Those who are looking for an answer to the question «A good crossover for mids and tweeter?» often ask the following questions:
🏁 What is a good crossover frequency for tweeter?
For tweeters and 2-way speakers: the recommended crossover frequency is 3.5 kHz (high pass, or high/low pass). Anything below this range for these speakers will lead to suboptimal performances.

Opt for a surface mount if you can't put the tweeter anywhere else. Use a power drill to drill a small hole in your car's speaker grille; this will be the hole that you'll stick the speaker wires through to wire your tweeter to the crossover. Then, use a screwdriver to screw the base cup into the grille with a pair of screws.

I’ve been working on a crossover design for a project and it provides a good example. This passive crossover is designed to divide the signal between a 4” midrange and a tweeter. I’ve chosen about 2.7 kHz for the crossover frequency. Below, is the response of the tweeter and the tweeter with the high pass filter.
What would be the 'ideal' crossover frequency for the tweeter in a three way horn system? There are drivers available that have useable frequency response on the low end to approximately 800 hz and respond to 18000 hz and above. There are horns, waveguides, etc. that also cover this frequency range.
The frequency points of the crossover vary. A typical 2-way crossover point might be 3kHz (anything above goes to the tweeter, anything below goes to the woofer). Typical 3-way crossover points might be 160Hz to 200Hz between the woofer and mid-range, and then the 3kHz point between the mid-range and tweeter.

Most 2-way or 1-way (tweeter) crossovers use a frequency near this as most tweeters can't handle sounds below this range. Same for woofers above this range. Midrange/woofer: 1K-3.5KHz (low pass) Woofers and many midrange speakers do not perform well above this general range. They're poor for treble and a tweeter should be added.
The midrange usually rolls off its frequency response naturally in relation to the tweeter, but a High-Pass Filter needs to be applied to block out the lower frequencies. If the coaxial speakers to use a passive crossover network, the crossovers should be set the same as the component speakers mentioned above. Recommended Starting Points:
midbass on the high end. theres a very nice looking crossover for sale in the classifieds that would be great for a 4 way active but the channels for the midbass XO only goes to 250, so the low pass on the midbass would be limited to 250. id probably use a 7 or 8 inch driver in conjunction with a 2.5 or 3 inch midrange and a tweeter
Crossover is well-built and components are higher quality than competitors; Nice, professional appearance; Ring design provides far better off-axis (non-direct) volume than most; Great sound reproduction; Better quality wiring; Great construction and quality throughout; Tweeter settings built-in; Very good tweeter attenuation settings: 0,-2, -4, and -6dB
With a passive component crossover, a full-range signal first leaves the amplifier, and then it gets to the crossover, where the signal is separated into two parts. The high notes are sent to the tweeter, while the mid and low notes go to the woofer.
A crossover is an electronics device that takes a single input signal and creates two or three output signals consisting of separated bands of high-, mid-, and low-range frequencies. The different bands of frequencies feed the different speakers, or “drivers,” in a sound system: tweeters, woofers, and subwoofers.

- If a tweeter has an Fs of 1500 Hz, use a 3000 Hz crossover, minimum. If a midrange is 300 Hz, use 600 Hz. Another good rule of thumb says, “18 dB down at resonance.” If a tweeter’s resonance is 1500 Hz, the voltage curve of the crossover should show the tweeter section being down 18 dB from “0 dB.”
- Most car tweeters pairs sold today include “2nd order” crossovers, which means they attenuate (filter out) sounds below the crossover frequency at -12 dB (Decibels) per octave. That’s a reference to how filters work in the audio and speaker world.

There is no one speaker capable of producing all frequencies throughout this range. Therefore, multiple speakers must be used. How do you hook up a tweeter to a crossover?
- Be sure to connect negative leads together and positives leads together. Connect the crossover's high frequency leads to the tweeter's speaker wire terminals in the back of the tweeter. Be sure to connect positive leads to positive and negative to negative as you did with the crossover.

- Car speaker crossovers (left) and home stereo speaker crossovers (right) are responsible for directing bass to a woofer and treble to a tweeter. They protect the tweeter and block distortion and potentially damaging bass power from overdriving it.
- Many speaker manufacturers recognize that and put tweeter attenuators in their crossovers. The settings should include "0 dB," when the tweeter level is the same as the woofer; "-3 dB," for a little attenuation; sometimes "-6 dB," for a lower tweeter level; and sometimes even "+3 dB," for those who like it brighter.
- They do not require a power connection, a turn-on lead, or grounding. You connect the speaker wire coming from your amp to the crossover's input. Then the tweeter gets wired to the tweeter output, and the woofer to the woofer output. That's it.
- For example, to set the crossover between a woofer and a tweeter will require a low pass filter on the woofer signal and a high pass filter on the tweeter signal. This can be done with electronic components or digital signal processing (DSP). Low pass filters allow low frequencies to pass while attenuating, or reducing, higher frequencies.
- For example, to set the crossover between a woofer and a tweeter will require a low pass filter on the woofer signal and a high pass filter on the tweeter signal. This can be done with electronic components or digital signal processing (DSP).
- Wherever the crossover controls are, try setting the lowpass crossover for the subwoofer and the highpass crossover for the mid/tweeter amp somewhere between 70 and 90Hz. If the crossover slopes can be adjusted, set both the low- and high-pass slopes to the same setting, probably 12 or 24dB per octave. Again, these are just starting points.
- You connect the speaker wire coming from your amp to the crossover's input. Then the tweeter gets wired to the tweeter output, and the woofer to the woofer output. That's it.
