It's worth to get a racing wheel now since assetto corsa competizione just came out recently, going from controller to a Force feedback powered racing wheel is huge, and driving with a racing wheel is amazing, you can feel the tyres, understeer, oversteer, loss of grip and you get accurate turning.
It will become easier, over time. Lots of people have troubles with adjusting from controller to wheel at the start... but with practice you will get hang of it and in most cases exceed your prior best performances. If you play enough racing games, it's worth every penny.
